CAROTID ARTERY STENTING
The Non-Surgical Alternative in Dallas
No large incisions and no general anesthesia.
Carotid Artery Stenting (CAS) is a advanced, minimally invasive procedure used to open blockages in the carotid arteries, the primary vessels that supply blood to your brain. Unlike traditional open surgery, this outpatient treatment requires no large incisions and no general anesthesia.
For active adults in Frisco and North Dallas, it provides an effective way to restore healthy blood flow and significantly reduce the risk of stroke with minimal downtime. It is performed right here in our Dallas facility by board-certified interventional specialists.
How Carotid Stenting Is Performed?
The vast majority of our patients return to home the same or next day to resume their normal routines.
Make a small puncture and insert a tiny microcatheter (the size of a grain of rice) usually through the wrist or upper thigh.
Guides the microcatheter through the blood vessels to the treatment site.
Delivers tiny embolic particles to block the abnormal vessels feeding the inflamed tissue.
Interrupts the pain signal at its source, allowing the tissue to heal.
The entire procedure takes approximately 45–60 minutes.
Patients are discharged the same day and typically return to light activity within 24–48 hours.
How the Procedure Works
Performed in our specialized outpatient suite in North Dallas, the process is streamlined for patient safety and comfort
Minimally Invasive Access
A tiny catheter is inserted through a "pin-prick" in the femoral artery (groin) or the wrist. Because of this, no neck incisions are required.
Stroke
Protection
During the procedure, a microscopic filter, known as an embolic protection device, is placed above the blockage to catch any debris or plaque that might move toward the brain.
Restoration and Support
A durable mesh stent is guided to the site of the narrowing. Once expanded, it compresses the plaque against the vessel wall and strengthens the artery to ensure long-term, healthy blood flow.
